Karate Grading at Evesham Leisure Centre

Shinkido Martial Arts Academy is holding it's spring Karate gradings at the Rivers Leisure Centre, Evesham

A grading is an opportunity to shine, a moment where hard work and determination comes together, a time to be tested and test oneself. More than a coloured belt, which is a sign of experience and dedication. A grading can be a moment celebrated by all.

Along side the grading a Karate Kata Seminar is being run, both application and art form will be taught.

Good luck All

Rivers floods and gails...

Despite the ravages of nature which lead to several road closures across Worcestershire and our home town of Evesham, the Shinkido grading seminar went ahead as planned at the Evesham Rivers Leisure Centre. Some members where unable to attend due to the adverse conditions caused by the recent rains.

Well done to all, we had a 100% pass rate across the board of Shinkido Junior Karate members and Shinkido Martial Arts Adult members.

As always, there is work to be done, none can rest up, there is always more to be done to achieve our fullest potential of understanding this vast subject.

Just thought I would drop a note just to say how much I
appreciate all your hard work with Theo.

I thought all the kids did wonderfully today - but I spent an
awful lot of time watching your reaction to their performances
and was just so impressed by how much it mattered to you, and
how in return, particularly Theo, wanted to do well, as much for
you as he did himself - the sign of a great teacher....it was
  wonderful to see...

  So thank you

Quality of learning

Does Class Size Effect Quality of Learning?

Shinkido Club Karate for Children has recently announced the introduction of a second class, this due to the increasing numbers of members.

So, does class size effect the quality of tuition to students?

Well let's look at some simple maths;

A one to one lesson for one hour gives the individual student 60 minutes of undivided attention.

A class with say four students, with one qualified Dan Grade Black belt instructor for one hour gives each individual student 15 minutes of undivided attention...

A class with 40 students, with one qualified Dan Grade Black belt instructor for one hour gives just 1 minute and 30 seconds of attention to each student....

For attention to detail and quality of education small class sizes are always best, the greater the class numbers, the less individual attention a child gets, so the child learns from the nearest fellow student stood by them, or their friend who they joined with... it's great for the club owner, he or she earns more for their time, but where is the dedication and personal attention to your child's learning potential?

Shinkido Karate for children has opened a second class to ensure that the standards of tuition and personal attention our members have come to expect is maintained, with a student to instructor ratio of 5-1.

Responsibility of Knowledge.

Class size does effect potential learning ability, it also effects many other things. Martial arts is a subject that must uphold responsibility in what is taught, who it is taught to, and how it is taught. This is not to say knowledge is withheld, on the contrary, no knowledge should be withheld, but the write time for that knowledge to be offered to a student is of paramount importance. What will the student do with it, are they responsible enough to deal with what is being taught, or will they simple us it because they can on someone else's child in the school playground or in the park?

With great knowledge comes great responsibility.
