Quality of learning

Does Class Size Effect Quality of Learning?

Shinkido Club Karate for Children has recently announced the introduction of a second class, this due to the increasing numbers of members.

So, does class size effect the quality of tuition to students?

Well let's look at some simple maths;

A one to one lesson for one hour gives the individual student 60 minutes of undivided attention.

A class with say four students, with one qualified Dan Grade Black belt instructor for one hour gives each individual student 15 minutes of undivided attention...

A class with 40 students, with one qualified Dan Grade Black belt instructor for one hour gives just 1 minute and 30 seconds of attention to each student....

For attention to detail and quality of education small class sizes are always best, the greater the class numbers, the less individual attention a child gets, so the child learns from the nearest fellow student stood by them, or their friend who they joined with... it's great for the club owner, he or she earns more for their time, but where is the dedication and personal attention to your child's learning potential?

Shinkido Karate for children has opened a second class to ensure that the standards of tuition and personal attention our members have come to expect is maintained, with a student to instructor ratio of 5-1.

Responsibility of Knowledge.

Class size does effect potential learning ability, it also effects many other things. Martial arts is a subject that must uphold responsibility in what is taught, who it is taught to, and how it is taught. This is not to say knowledge is withheld, on the contrary, no knowledge should be withheld, but the write time for that knowledge to be offered to a student is of paramount importance. What will the student do with it, are they responsible enough to deal with what is being taught, or will they simple us it because they can on someone else's child in the school playground or in the park?

With great knowledge comes great responsibility.
